Marc Sorel named new Chairman and CEO of PowerJet

Marc Sorel has been appointed Chairman and CEO of PowerJet as of October 1st, 2015.

PowerJet, founded in July 2004, is a joint venture between Snecma (Safran) of France and NPO Saturn of Russia. The company manages the SaM146 engine program, including development, production, marketing and sales, as well as customer support and MRO services. In April 2003, the SaM146 engine was selected by Sukhoi to power its Superjet 100 regional jet.

Mr. Marc Sorel is replacing Claude Poulain who had served as Chairman and CEO of PowerJet since July 2013.

Marc Sorel graduated in marketing and sales from the « Ecole Supérieure Libre des Sciences Commerciales Appliquées » and from Paris I, La Sorbonne.
He began his career in 1993 within the French Ministry of Finance as Deputy of Commercial Counselor for Belarus and then Russia.

In 1997, he joined Thales Avionics to manage the Moscow office before taking the responsibility of the sales department in France dedicated to Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for combat aircraft for Europe and Russia. In 2003, he was appointed Representative for Russia and Vice President of Thales International.

In 2005, Marc took over the management of space intelligence programs and satellite navigation systems at Thales Airborne Systems.

He then joined Safran on January 2011 as Country delegate – Russia.
